Animal testing and safe cosmetics.

This is an answer I gave to a comment posted below. As I doubt that anybody reads the comments, I have posted it here.

I got a few emails about animal testing whilst I was at Cocovida. I was always honest when I said I was unsure about some of the ingredients in one or two of the products. I sincerely believed then, as I do now, that none of the ingredients were tested on animals, but I was unable to confirm this 100%. (It is not always easy in The Philippines, as companies are sometimes loathe to divulge their suppliers.)

Maria Lani has applied to become a member of PETA's Cruelty-Free Company Program, as well as signing up for the BUAV campaign to end animal testing for cosmetics. I have to say, that at present we have not been approved by either of these organisations, as they have to check the company out. We fully understand this is very important, and accept that our applications may take time.

Finally, (I bet you wish you hadn't commented now), Cocovida is a signatory to The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics; something which I thought was very important. I have just signed on behalf of Maria Lani.

Even more finally. If I remember your email correctly, you said you wouldn't buy any of our beauty oils because I couldn't convince you that none of the ingredients were tested on animals. Please keep an eye on this blog. Hopefully, I can do better this time.

Take care,

Steve
