In case I forget.
Da Coconut Nut
This is a video made with some great friends of mine. Ok, maybe we are not going to win too many grammys, but it was fun to do, and I am sure we put some smiles on faces.
We are hoping to do the same with Maria Lani, but on a far grander scale and involving far more people. I have mentioned the cartoon characters, and the soap art, but if you want to attract attention in The Philippines, there is no better way than by singing and dancing........Watch out for The MaLa Band!!
P.S. Aren't the lyrics brilliant.

As promised, yet again.
A few photographs of the inside of the Maria Lani raw VCO production plant at the foot of Mt. Banahaw in Dolores, Quezon.
On the day the photographs were taken Maria Lani was helping with a training program, which was undertaken in collaboration with the Philippine Coconut Authority and the local government of Quezon, to provide means of livelihood, (particularly for the women), in the community. The program included all natural soap making, handicraft paper/wrappers and many other Coco Moringa based personal care and wellness products.
You will notice the plant is large and very clean. You will notice that the settling room is very well insulated. You might even spot the hand-presses, used by producers of the finest raw VCO, in the top photograph. Unfortunately, what you can't see, is just how many people actually attended the seminar. 10 megapixels, and still the pictures are blurred!!

As promised.........part 2
Those of you that know The Philippines will quickly spot that these photographs were not taken in Pangasinan. You will immediately recognise the magical, mystical Mt. Banahaw. The Maria Lani production site, shown in the photographs below, lies at the foot of Mt. Banahaw. This is where the raw virgin coconut oil is produced, and it will also be the location for the production of many of the beauty products.
I strongly suggest,(that's STRONGLY), that you read the following article about Mt. Banahaw. You will enjoy it...........Honestly, you will!!

Tomorrow, photographs of the inside of the plant.

Not more rain!!
Recently I promised to post photographs of the Maria Lani farms and production facilities. Unfortunately the weather has not allowed me to make the journey to Pangasinan, so my apologies for the delay.
For those of you that have not been to The Philippines; I have to tell you that the rain here is different to any rain I have ever encountered before. It is not like that wimpish drizzle we get in the UK. The rain here really hurts. This is the MMA of rain.
It has been raining now for what seems like weeks, and is probably ..............weeks. There have been tropical storms, followed by gales, followed by more tropical storms. Just occasionally it stops long enough to lull people into a false sense of security, and they venture out. Just as they are far enough from cover to make a soaking unavoidable, the heavens open again.
Whilst Filipinos, with their typical fortitude and indomitable spirit, just go about their daily business; foreigners like me whinge and moan. I don't actually know why I do it. I guess it is just part of being English.....and being an idiot.
Right, now to the important part of the post. Forget the photographs for a minute, they will follow very soon. You will be extremely pleased to hear that Tita Beth's Sari Sari Store and Cinema was not washed away this week. Tita Beth's Store, where I buy my San Mig Light for only 22 pesos, (with 2 pesos back on the bottle), has a habit of floating off down the road after a particularly severe storm. Luckily Beth has found an ingenious solution, by tying the store to the church next door, which is a much more stable and solid building.
The picture above is from my old blog. It is of a church in Samar, which is flooded for many weeks of the year. Getting their feet wet does not prevent the congregation from attending church every Sunday.
As promised.
Please find below our acceptance letter from The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. It is something to which Maria Lani is totally committed.
